Yabba dabba doo!

A MARATHON runner is hoping to complete his third consecutive Great North Run in October to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.

Gareth Boyd, 36, a recruitment specialist from Frodsham, will be running the Great North Run dressed as Fred Flintstone and wants to raise more than £500.

He said: “I always try and raise and money for a charity and this year I have chosen an Alzheimer’s charity. My grandmother suffered from dementia and I remember it as a small lad. It wasn’t nice so it’s an illness I have experience of.

“I normally try and raise about £500 but last year I raised about £2,000.

“Last year I was a cave man so this year I thought I would keep the theme and I am aiming to complete the run in under two hours.”

More than 1,000,000 have entered the 13.1 mile Great North Run, Newcastle, since it started in 1981.
