Village puts on show of colour and talent

RECORD numbers of villagers were out in force to enjoy Rossett’s annual festival.

With fine weather tempting 1,400 people to attend the event at Darland Sports Centre, organisers hailed proceedings as a huge success.

The festival took place this year thanks to a grant from Awards for All –Wales, but it is hoped that the event will soon become self-funding.

Visitors this year were treated to a dog show, horticulture show and a host of attractions.

Festival organising committee member Hannah Groves said: “It was a great success.

“Next year sees the 60th anniversary of the Horticulture Society attending the festival so hopefully there will be plenty of celebrations.”
