Green-fingered crooks are pinching gnomes

BLACON residents are being asked to think hard about their gnome security.

In recent weeks, there has been a dramatic increase in the number of thefts from gardens in the area with benches, pots, hanging baskets and gnomes (pictured) all taken by crooks.

Officers from Chester Outer Neighbourhood Policing Unit are calling on residents to re-evaluate their security measures, and be on the lookout for the thieves.

All residents in Blacon, particularly those living near Cathedral Road, should be vigilant and remove from view any items that could be carried away.

If you have information about the thefts, or see suspicious activity in the area, call Cheshire Police on 0845 458 0000 or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Alternatively, meet with officers to discuss any problems at the surgeries which are held every Thursday at the Children’s Centre, Carlisle Road (11.30am–12.45pm), Blacon Library, Western Avenue (2–3pm) and Blacon Community Trust, Blacon Point Road (5.30–6.30pm).
