Cheshire farmers face pressure from global credit crunch

CHESHIRE farmers are under increasing pressure from the global credit crunch.
Spiralling costs coupled with another wet British summer are sewing the seeds of discontent across Cheshire’s farming community, leading some to consider selling their business.
With inflation pushing up fuel prices, making farming, food production and transport more costly, life in rural Cheshire is far from comfortable.
National Farmers Union county chairman Richard Clegg said: “You have to grit your teeth and bear it and also look to cut costs. It’s a mixture of economic difficulties and also some very bad weather.”
