Home bid opposition fails

A NEIGHBOUR objected when plans were put forward to demolish a bungalow and replace it with a two-storey dormer property.

Mrs K Pepper of Chester Road, Malpas, told planning officers at Chester City Council she would be “very overlooked” by the new dwelling, proposed at Maesfen View, Chester Road by J Lewis and would lose her privacy.

Her lounge, bedroom and dining room would lose light and a conservatory, patio and half the garden plus the house would be cast into gloom.

“My house is a small cottage which I have taken great pains to preserve as a cottage,” she said.

The bungalow at Maesfen View is located between two two-storey properties, Chester’s planning board was told in a report.

Dwellings in the vicinity are all of a different character, planning officers pointed out and the change in design would have a limited effect on the surrounding area.

Although the dwelling would represent a significant increase over the existing property, its appearance would preserve the character and appearance of the Malpas conservation area.

Principal planning officer Liz Stone told the board a letter of support had been received from Malpas Parish Council.

The application was recommended for permission and was approved.
