Students take top share in finance race

FOUR students from The College of Law in Chester have picked up a cheque for £200 following success in Rensburg Sheppards’ annual Share Race competition.

Eight teams took part in the competition and were tasked with investing a virtual fund of £100,000. The winners were the team of students who generated the most value from their investment.

Paul Doughty, associate director for Rensburg Sheppards, said: “We’ve been running the share race competition with the college for the last six years and it’s proved to be a fun and innovative way of making the students more commercially aware and developing their understanding of financial markets.”

Ben Woof, a member of the winning team, added: “Virtual or not, being responsible for £100,000 is very daunting, but the hard work has paid-off and we are now going to adapt what we have learnt and invest our winnings.”
