‘Our hopes for farmers’ market’

TARPORLEY Parish Council is pushing for a farmers’ market to be set up in the village.

At their meeting last week, they discussed the positive feedback they had received from the community on the idea of a village market.

Parish council chairman Heidi Nickson said: “We have been liaising with Karen Lamb, who runs stalls at other markets in the area, to discuss how best to set up a market.”

Councillors discussed where best to put the market in the village and when to hold it. It was generally agreed that the best time would be the first Saturday in every month.

Councillors decided that, if possible, the market should be held throughout the village so customers would also be encouraged to visit the shops as well as the stalls.

Cllr Nickson told the council there was still a long way to go and many details to confirm before it could go ahead but they would push forward with organising the market.
