King’s go top of maths class

STUDENTS at The King’s School in Chester have had outstanding success at this year’s Junior Maths Challenge.

Of Year 7 and 8 pupils, 50% gained gold, silver or bronze certificates.

The gold certificate represents a performance in the top 6% of the competition and 12% of the students at King’s received them.

Two students – Matthew Temple, 12, of Hoole, and William Marshall, 13, of Tarvin – have qualified for the Junior Mathematical Olympiad later this month.

Matthew also received a certificate for the highest mark in the school.

Headteacher Chris Ramsey said: “We are delighted with the results of our younger pupils in the National Maths Challenge at King’s.”
