Fundraising fête proves a big hit

CHILDREN of all ages enjoyed a day of fun at the Eccleston Village Fête at the weekend.

Organised by the village social committee, the event featured activities and competitions. Numbers reached 300 for the day.

Children were able to enjoy a nursery crafts stall and beat the goalkeeper, both with chances to win prizes. The event also hosted the dog show and an Eat the Doughnuts competition. There was also the popular treat of a face painting stall.

The fête raised £2,000, which is to be split between Eccleston Church and the Hospice of the Good Shepherd at Backford.

Organiser John Richards said: “The weather managed to hold off for us. The day was very successful.”

Usually, the event is followed by a picnic and prom, but unpredictable weather forced organisers to postpone until next year.

Mr Richards added: “We weren’t sure about the weather so had to call it off, but hopefully the picnic and prom will go ahead next year.”
