Two arrested after armed siege in Blacon

AN ARMED police siege has resulted in two arrests after a man was reported to be brandishing a handgun.

The siege began on Lincoln Road, near Blacon Avenue, Blacon at 9.05am today (Wednesday, July 23) and the stand-off lasted until 10.30am.

The road was cordoned off as several police cars and a van surrounded the address with trained firarms officers.

Cheshire police spokesman Rachel Hayes said: “At 9.05am, police went to Lincoln Road to a report of a man with a handgun.

“The end result was a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm and a 20-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

“No police or members of the public have been hurt.”
