Rural Cheshire schools battle for hockey festival title

CHILDREN from rural schools were bitten by the “hockey bug” when they took part in the Deeside Ramblers Primary Schools Hockey Festival.

Four schools took part, with Eaton Primary beating Huxley 1-0 in the final to take the title at the Ramblers’ Tiverton HQ.

The standard of play was high enough to impress Ramblers president John Heath, who said: “It was a great day and all the schools acquitted themselves well. Well done to Eaton for their victory in the final.

Pictures from the primary schools hockey festival will appear in the Country edition of Friday’s Chronicle.
