School hosts all the fun of the fair

MAYPOLE dancers got in a spin to usher in the summer.

Farndon Primary School in Churton Road held its summer fair where traditional maypole dancers mixed with rose queens as teachers and pupils gathered to celebrate.

Falling on July 4, the fair, held by the school’s PTA, took on a US Independence Day theme.

A barbecue was formerly opened by this year’s rose queen, Year 6 pupil Jessica Graham, 11.

Teacher Sarah Wakefield said: “Everybody had a fabulous time. The Year 6 children had to learn dances.”

Face painting, a bouncy castle, games, a tombola and stalls run by Year 6 pupils added to the festivities.

The event raised funds for the school, and its coffers will be filled even more when two parents, Matt Pearce and Ben Wright, cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats.

It is hoped the money will help pay for new toilets at the school.
