Blacon prepares to stage annual festival this weekend

BLACON is celebrating this weekend with its annual festival.

The celebration starts with a parade through Blacon from the Arches School in Saughall Road at 10.30am to the festival site at Blacon High School on Melbourne Road where it will be officially opened by the Lord Mayor and Lady Mayoress of Chester at 11am with the Blacon Young Ambassadors.

Football fans can have their pictures taken with the real FA Cup and collect prints from the Oscar Broadband Bus.

Other attractions include fairground rides, craft stalls, a bouncy castle, a bicycle road show, eco corner, face painting, giant slide, trampolines, pony rides, a football penalty shootout, refreshments and much more.

The event will go on until approximately 3pm and is organised by Blacon Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder.

The group’s Carolyn Smith said: “The central arena will have a programme of events including Blacon Schools Choir, Singing Hands, Chester Angels Cheer Leaders, D4J and our very own Blacon’s Got Talent.”

BLOB On the day of the festival there may be slight traffic congestion between the Arches School and Saughall Road, Western Avenue and Melbourne Road to Blacon High School as the festival parade makes its way to the arena.
