CATHEDRAL buildings could be transformed into a hotel to help fund £25m of repairs to the 900 year old historic Chester building.
Chester Cathedral’s assets – including Abbey Square and the Dean’s Field – could be opened up to visitors to generate much-needed income which will help maintain the historic building in the long-run.
A masterplan is being developed using public money to draw up a blueprint for not only the cathedral but for the management of The Rows and The Castle.
Chester City Council will go out to tender to find a consultant to work up the masterplan which is part of the Chester Renaissance initiative aimed at reviving the city’s fortunes in a coordinated way.
