County gets set to put on show

THOUSANDS of visitors will be heading for the largest country event in the North West when the Cheshire Show gets under way next week.

Around 70,000 visitors are expected to pass through the gates at the annual event, taking place at the Tabley Showground, near Knutsford, on Tuesday and Wednesday (June 17-18).

Visitors can watch Cheshire Polo Club demonstrations, heavy cavalry and Cambrai Band, pony club games, scurry driving competition, as well as hundreds of animals large and small, rare and commonplace.

This year sees chef Kevin Woodford and naturalist David Bellamy making star appearances at the show.

David Bellamy will be entertaining crowds with his tales, opinions and knowledge of our natural world, while food fans will welcome the gourmet delights cooked by one of TV’s top chefs, Kevin Woodford.

Other attractions on this year’s bill include the ultimate bird of prey experience, The Eagle and Vulture Show, and the UK’s number one extreme motorcycle display team, the Bold Dog Lings.

There is a food lovers’ haven in the Roberts Bakery Food Hall and Food Live theatre, where hundreds of food producers will have delicacies from across the world to tantalise the taste buds.

Tickets for the show can be purchased on the gate or in advance. Advance tickets are available on 0845 124 9822 or from most Cheshire libraries.

They are £11 for adults, £8.50 for senior citizens, £5 for children and £28 for a family of two adults and two children, (children under five are free).
