Tractors trundle out to boost funds

THE proud owners of 50 gleaming tractors from yesteryear took to the roads around Malpas on Sunday for a charity run.

The event, which left Moss Farm at 9.45am and returned there for a barbecue, was raising money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

It was organised by Alison Jukes, 43, of Malpas, who is taking on the Bike the Baltic Challenge in August in aid of the cause.

This event celebrates 60 years of cancer care from Marie Curie, and Alison has already raised £2,500 for the cause to secure her place on the ride.

She will be cycling one 400-mile leg of the route from Poland to Russia and will pay her own registration fee to take part.

The £557 raised at Sunday’s event will go to Marie Curie.

John and Helen Proudlove helped to organise the run and it was held at Moss Farm by kind permission of Rachel and Edward Reeves.
