A TEACHER raised more than £1,000 towards a cycling race of a lifetime by packing supermarket bags on Saturday.
Peter Dolan, 59, from Huxley, who is planning to take on an 11-day, 680km cycling challenge through China to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, packed bags at Sainsbury’s, Great Boughton, with his family.
He said: “I want to say thank you to everyone, it was a great day. We were there from 8.30am to 6pm and raised £1,001.13. My wife, two daughters, three grandchildren and son-in-law all helped.”
Peter wanted to raise money for the charity after his eldest sister Molly died of cancer aged 52 and will participate in The Great Race of China on September 17 – just weeks after he retires on his 60th birthday in July.
