Family in good shape for honour

THREE generations of a Chester family have been shortlisted for a national award.

Mary Vives, 81, Lorraine Crawley, 58, and Lucy Matamolas, 23, have been named the regional winners for the North West in the Face of Shapemaster competition.

They impressed the judges with their enthusiasm and the way that they encouraged each other to achieve results.

Mary, of Daniel Way, Chester is very active person in the community.

She said: “I run a social club for retired people with over 500 members – I like to keep on top of things and keep fit and active.”

They all attend the Feel Good Factory in Bridge Trafford where they attend ladies-only sessions using the power-assisted exercise system to help them back into a more active lifestyle.

Shapemaster say results achieved have been outstanding – with members losing inches and regaining mobility.

Mary’s daughter Lorraine Cawley has a special reason for wanting to keep fit because her husband saved her life two years ago by giving her one of his kidneys,

Lorraine added: “My husband gave me a second chance of life – now I need to keep fit and in shape to prolong my life and not waste my gift.”

Lucy Matamolas is one of a set of triplets adopted by Lorraine when they were babies.

She has some learning difficulties but still manages to keep fit and healthy, adding: “I enjoy keeping fit with mum because she needs my encouragement to keep on track!”
