PRIMARY school pupils were able to build on their health and safety knowledge when a visitor called in for the morning.
David Ford, health and safety manager at Redrow Homes (North West), which is currently building a housing development in Farndon, addressed the youngsters at the village primary school about the potential dangers of playing on building sites.
He delivered a talk and DVD and handed out health and safety packs filled with fun learning aids, including a colouring picture to highlight hazards and a pairing game to identify the meaning of safety signs on building sites.
Deputy headteacher Cynthia Wyman said: “We are quite close to the Redrow building site so this talk about the danger of construction areas was very important to us. The children were all very interested and asked lots of questions. The DVD was very powerful and really brought home the message to them.”
Redrow also supports and encourages young people through learning projects including the Redrow Learning Web.
This online resource, which includes a teachers’ area to help plan lessons and guide their pupils, meets the national curriculum requirements and has been accredited by the National Grid for Learning.Š
