Free hugs given away in Chester city centre

FREE hugs were given out in Chester city centre on Thursday.

Members of the Light Project, a Chester based charity, gave the hugs to any passers by who took them up on the offer.

Glyn Jones, assistant director for the Light Project, said: “We are giving the free hugs to demonstrate what the charity is about in a relevant way. We have had all sorts of people hugging us, young, old, students, men in suits, a real mix.”

The Light Project, which is part of the Chesterfest, incorporates 18 churches in the Chester area and works as an evangelist.

He added: “We have given 150 hugs in a single afternoon.”
