Young footballers kitted out thanks to association’s gift

THE Blacon Youth Football Team has received welcome support from Manchester & District Housing Association with a new football kit which they unveiled at a tournament in Blackpool.

The team, which is run by two of Manchester & District’s residents, won their league at the tournament, scoring 22 goals in six games, but were later knocked out at the quarter-final stage in a penalty shoot out.

Despite this, the team were delighted that the housing association came forward with the offer of a new kit, and were even more delighted when Chester City Council donated £750 to pay for the tournament.

Amanda Jones, neighbourhood regeneration officer at M&D, said: “When I heard from our residents that the youth team was in need of a new kit, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to show our support.

“We are thrilled that the team performed so well at the tournament and wish them all the best for the future.”
