Tom secures an Army scholarship place

A KING’S School pupil has been awarded an Army scholarship.

Thomas Pearson-Jones, of Halkyn, North Wales has been granted one of 100 annual scholarships following a gruelling interview and written, problem solving, leadership and fitness tests. It is conditional on him achieving a certain standard at GCSE.

The 16-year-old’s interest in the Army developed from his involvement in the CCF (Combined Cadet Force) at The King’s School.

The scholarship will fund Tom’s sixth form studies at Harrow College, give him automatic entry to the Army Officer Training Academy at Sandhurst and offer him preferential funding for university study.

He hopes to become an Army medic after university.

Headmaster Chris Ramsey said: “Thomas has been an outstanding and popular pupil at The King’s School and we are absolutely delighted to share in his success. We encourage independence and responsibility and Tom is a fine example of our students.”
