HELP is needed ‘behind the seams’ at the Chester Mystery Plays.
The production team is appealing for anyone with sewing skills to come and help create costumes for more than 200 volunteers taking part in the plays this summer.
The costumes are designed by Judith Croft and include outfits for angels, devils, soldiers and Medieval gawpers as well as for all the main parts.
Paula Budd, who is co-ordinating the costumes, said: “We’re looking for anyone who can sew, with or without a sewing machine.
“We need a couple of people who can work to a good tailoring standard, but we also need people who can do basic dressmaking or even decorative trimming – on hats for example. We could also use people who can knit.”
Paula is also interested to hear from anyone who can help to get hold of props, which can be made or found in charity shops, car boot sales or even in Chester’s attics.

The 2008 cycle of plays will be performed on Chester Cathedral Green from June 28 to July 19.
