Park opens with fun day

THE Saughall community celebrated the opening of the village’s Golden Jubilee Park on Bank Holiday Monday.

The parish council has been working on the project in Fiddlers Lane since the Millennium.

The park was opened by Sheriff of Chester, Councillor Andrew Storrar and his lady Councillor Jeanne Storrar.

According to organisers, a crowd of 1,200 people enjoyed the fun day with stalls from local organisations, games, a Beat the Goalie competition and an exhibition football match by the Saughall Colts.

Parish councillor Ian Humphrey, who coordinated the event, said: “I would like to give a big thank you to All Saints and the Methodist Church for blessing the Millennium stone and the time capsule, to all our sponsors and to all the people who worked hard to stage the event.”
