Great Wall of China charity challenge
TWO women are taking part in an eight-day trek along the Great Wall of China in aid of the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Linda Stacey, 49, and her daughter Jo, 24, aim to raise as much money as possible.
Jo’s employer, London-based Future Publishing, will be matching whatever she raises so both are hopeful their target of £8,500 can be reached.
Linda, a nurse practitioner from Bunbury, said: “The trek is next weekend so I’m getting quite nervous now. There are 12 of us altogether and we are raising money for four charities.”
Her husband Jeremy was diagnosed with Multiple Schlerosis 10 years ago and since then she has been involved with the charity.
And friend Alison Pritchard stepped in to hold an event to coincide with National Cake Week.
The owner of Alison’s Country Kitchen, said: “Linda approached me about holding an event for the Multiple Sclerosis Society.”
The shop, on High Street, Tattenhall, sold raffle tickets and ran competitions such as “guess the weight of the cake”. Some of the money from the cake sales was also donated to the charity.
The event at Alison’s Country Kitchen raised £216, bringing her total up to £3,000 so far.
