DRIVERS heading into Wales from Chester are being advised to expect moderate delays while a weekend programme of works is carried out.
Westbound traffic will not be able to use a short section of carriageway on the A5117 in Deeside, from Pleasant View Farm to Woodbank Junction, when the work to connect new link roads to the carriageway takes place. Vehicles will also be prohibited from using part of the adjoining A550 southbound carriageway.
The work is planned to take place between 9pm on Friday, May 9 and 8am on Monday, May 12.
Fully-signed diversionary routes will be in place but traffic heading to the North Wales resorts is advised to consider using the A55 as an alternative.
Stephen Greenhalgh, Highways Agency project manager, said: “This temporary arrangement is for the safety of road workers and motorists. We will do all we can to limit any delays during the work but our advice to drivers is to allow extra time for their journeys and plan ahead.”
Under the £55m A5117 Deeside Park Junction improvement scheme, a five kilometre dual carriageway is being built to provide a free flowing link road between the end of the M56 and North Wales. The work includes three new junctions to replace two roundabouts and signal controlled junctions.
