DISCOVER the craft talents of local artists – and support charity by bidding on your favourite piece of art.
Professional artists from in and around Kelsall will be exhibiting their work and demonstrating traditional crafts at an art fair at the village community centre on Saturday, May 17 at noon.
They include Sarah Hood of Kelsall, whose celebrity portraits have been sold across the world, Janet Westerman of Ashton Hayes and Fred Gardner who teaches art at Kelsall’s Forest Art Group.
Local craftspeople will also be demonstrating traditional crafts such as lace making, barge art, patchworking and printing and inking techniques.
They will be joined by exhibits from budding artists at Kelsall Primary School and Tarporley High School, led by Kelsall teachers John Clayton, David Wearing and Samantha Wythinshaw.
A number of professional artists have donated pieces to the Kelsall Green fund which will be auctioned off to raise money for recreation facilities at land near the Morris Dancer on Chester Road.
Organiser Jane Knight, of Kelsall said: “The fair will be of interest to anyone who likes arts and crafts as well as people from the local community who know the artists.
“This is also a celebration of the people who worked so hard to obtain the land for the village green, and to raise as much money as possible for the next step of improving its facilities.”
Kelsall Art Fair is at Kelsall Community Centre, Chester Road, on Saturday, May 17 at noon. Entrance 50p adults, children free. Refreshments available. More information from 01829 751839 or 01829 759266.
