Youngest councillors elected to new Cheshire West council

TWO new councillors in their 20s, newly elected to the City ward, are thought to the youngest councillors on the Cheshire West & Chester authority.

Richard Lowe of Hoole Lane, is 23 while Tom Parry of Newton is 25.

Cllr Parry joined the Tory Party at the age of 18. He stood unsuccessfully for Boughton ward last year.

He said: “I shall speaking up for the residents of Chester City ward where we have got 11,000 voters. I think it is important to remember Chester is the county town.”

Cllr Lowe, who works for the Chester Chamber of Commerce, is originally from Anglesey and studied law at Keele University.

He said: “When we were canvassing, people may have looked at us in a different way to other councillors. But they see past the age. They see the freshness. Nobody said it was a negative thing.”

Cllr Parry added: “A lot of older residents remarked I was young and then they added it was a good thing.
