Veteran Blacon councillor welcomes Labour win

RETIRING councillor John Price says the three candidates who have won Blacon for Labour will continue his party’s fine tradition of representing the ward.

The veteran councillor has decided not to stand for the new Cheshire West and Chester authority after almost four decades representing Blacon.

He said: “Thirty eight years ago, we took Blacon from the Tories. There was no way, as I finished, that they were going to get it back. I would have died first.

“The three Labour candidates are going to continue a fine tradition.”

Asked how he felt about not contesting his first election in decades, he said: “I will probably shed a tear.”
