Tory council leader facing nail-biting recount

MARGARET Parker, the current Conservative leader of Chester City Council, is facing a nail-biting recount to see if she will be part of the new Cheshire West and Chester authority.

Although the Tories are romping to victory in the local elections for the new council, Cllr Parker is standing in the Hoole and Newton ward which is the final one to be declared.

A dead heat was announced, forcing a recount.

Cllr Parker is currently a Chester city councillor for Mickle Trafford.
