Scouts go on parade for patron saint

CHESTER district scout groups celebrated St George’s Day with a parade and a service.

Scouts from Tattenhall, Malpas and Farndon joined city groups at Chester Castle to begin the parade which took them up Bridge Street, down Eastgate Street and up Werburgh Street to Chester Cathedral.

Leading the parade were the Warrington Phoenix Drum and Trumpet Corps with the City of Chester band.

The Scout groups on parade were: 8th Chester (Garden Quarter), 18th Chester (Westminster Park), 40th Chester (Huntington), 42nd Chester (Hoole), 48th Chester (St Columba’s Church), Cestrian (Vicar’s Cross), 1st Saltney, 1st Upton, 5th Blacon, 1st Christleton, 1st Farndon, 1st Guilden Sutton, 1st Malpas, 1st Saughall, 1st Waverton and 1st Sandstone (Tattenhall and Bickerton).

Guests of honour at the cathedral service were Lord Mayor of Chester Cllr James Latham and Lady Mayoress Hilary Latham.
