Long serving councillor celebrates Tory sweep in Overleigh

ONE of the longest serving councillors in Chester is celebrating after seeing the Tories take total control of the Overleigh ward.

Cllr Richard Short polled 3,149 votes and was elected to the new Cheshire West and Chester authority alongside colleagues Razia Daniels with 3,063 votes and Arthur Harada on 3,093.

Cllr Short said: “I would like to thank our political opponents who have suffered a cycle of popularity. I think they would hope to get back into power soon but they won’t for a very long time.”
