Labour veterans Sandra & Bob Rudd beaten by Tories

VETERAN husband and wife Labour councillors Sandra and Bob Rudd have failed to get elected to the new Cheshire West and Chester authority.

All three seats in the City ward went to Conservative councillors with Richard Lowe polling 1,407 votes, Tom Parry 1,396 and Max Drury 1,358.

Former Lord Mayor of Chester Sandra Rudd polled 1,270 and her husband Bob 1,259.

Cllr Parry said: “The three of us will work extremely hard for the residents of the City ward. Thank you very much.”

There were 11 spolied ballot papers in the ward.
