Football challenge nets bed for hospital
PATIENTS at Tarporley War Memorial Hospital will be able to use a new electric bed thanks to staff and customers at the Egerton Arms in Little Budworth.
Staff at the hospital gathered to thank landlady Joanne Dobson who raised £1,041 through a charity football match, a raffle and other fundraising events at the pub.
The annual Boxing Day football challenge was held between the Egerton Eagles and the Beeston Legends, and raised £555.
Mrs Dobson said: “The challenge has now become a feature of every Christmas at the pub. The teams have the match then come to the pub to have hot soup and sandwiches.
“Tarporley Hospital is our local hospital, and it is used by many people in the surrounding villages. The hospital is partly funded by the NHS, but also has to raise some of its own funds. We are delighted to have raised enough to buy this new bed.”
Mrs Dobson added: “We have been running the pub since 1970 and over the years we have raised cash for many local charities. We would just like to thank all who helped raise this money.”
