First councillors elected to Cheshire West are Labour

THE first councillors elected to the new Cheshire West & Chester authority have been revealed.

They are Labour councillors Reggie Jones, Marie Nelson and Alex Tate who will all represent the Blacon ward.

Cllr Jones polled 1,417 votes, Cllr Nelson 1,364 and Cllr Tate 1,188 - the only candidates among the total of 11 who polled more than 1,000 votes.

Cllr Jones said: “It has been a long campaign but I am delighted we have been re-elected in Blacon. The people of Blacon have supported those who recognise that Blacon matters and those who will take Blacon forwards not backwards.”

There was a total of nine spolied ballot papers in the ward, including four people who had voted for too many candidates.
