A TATTENHALL man is seriously ill in hospital after being struck by a car as he walked to work.

The 24 year old man was hit by a black Volkswagen Golf at 8.30am today (Friday, May 1) on Chester Road, Gatesheath.

The driver was not injured.

The pedestrian was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital with serious head injuries and his family are with him.

Cheshire police spokesperson Jacqui Hanson said: “Anyone with information should call Chester Road Policving Unit on 0845 458 0000.”

The road was closed following the incident but has now been reopened.
