POLICE have been granted the powers to move on groups of people they suspect of carrying out acts of disorder and harassment.
Due to ongoing reports of anti-social behaviour on the Sealand Manor Estate, just outside Chester, a dispersal order has been extended for a further three months.
Inspector Darren Wareing said: “Since the current order has been imposed reports of anti-social behaviour have significantly reduced in the area.
“However North Wales Police want to ensure that all members of the community are aware we will continue to use any legislation available to us to allow residents and visitors to the area to feel safer and enjoy a better quality of life.”
The dispersal order includes Manor Road, The Owl Industrial Estate, Meadow View, Ferry Close, South Green, East Green, North Green, West Green, the shooting school grounds and the playground and recreational areas.
The order was first introduced on February 1 by North Wales Police in conjunction with Flintshire County Council, and commences from 6am tomorrow (Thursday, May 1) until 6am on August 1.
Large groups of people or anyone suspected of committing anti-social behaviour can be ordered to move on by both police officers and PCSOs.
Anyone ignoring the order, or who returns to the area, can be arrested.
Inspector Wareing added: “North Wales Police is currently working alongside other partnership agencies, including the local authority and housing agencies, to effectively reduce crime and anti - social behaviour and will target those who continue to break the law and act in an anti-social manner.”
