Crow’s nest chimney blaze drama in Chester street

A CLUMSY bird who dropped his nest provided hours of amusement for one Chester street last night (Wednesday).

The crow’s nest fell down the chimney of a house in Alwyn Gardens, Upton, and was set alight by a gas fire.

Fire crews arrived at 10.15pm but were unable to put it out from the fireplace so they used the aerial platform to extinguish the fire from the roof.

A spokesman for Cheshire Fire Service said: “It was a minor fire with no property damage but we had to put the fire out from above.

“It certainly provided entertainment for a few local children who thought it was very amusing that the bird had dropped its nest down the chimney.”
