A 31-YEAR-old man was killed and two others were injured this afternoon following a serious car crash on the M6.
The man, said to be from the Manchester area, died at the scene of the crash, which happened between junctions 21 and 21a near the Croft interchange at 2.20pm.
A Peugeot motor home lost control on the northbound carriageway and smashed through the central barrier onto the southbound carriageway where it collided with a taxi and two saloon cars.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Emergency services and Highways Agency staff attended the scene and Cheshire Fire Brigade had to rescue three people from the wreckage.
“A 65-year-old woman from Cumbria was airlifted to Wythenshawe Hospital with serious leg injuries and a 24-year-old man was taken to Warrington Hospital with extensive arm injuries.”
The southbound carriageway remained closed for six hours while emergency services worked to rescue the trapped victims and clear the motorway.
