A DRUGS “courier” arrested in a police drugs raid has claimed he was not a dealer.
Keith Tallant, 24, of Benedict Street, Liverpool stands accused of possessing class A drugs with intent to supply but his solicitor, Richard Thomas, told Chester Crown Court on Monday that he was merely a courier of drugs.
On March 23, officers from Chester Inner Neighbourhood Policing Unit executed a search warrant just after 11am on a bedsit on West Rural Street.
Prosecutor Mark Roberts said: “The defence says he was a courier.”
Judge Nicholas Woodward responded: “They’re all couriers. There’s nobody who actually does any dealing.
“There shouldn’t be any drugs if that’s the case. If it’s acceptable this defendant is a courier, so be it.”
Tallant will return to Chester Crown Court on Friday, April 25 so that the prosecution can attempt to disprove the assertion that Tallant was a courier.
