Cheshire Chief Constable’s tribute to Gwyneth

CHIEF Constable Peter Fahy has paid tribute to the late MP Gwyneth Dunwoody.

In a stateent released by Cheshire Police today, he said: “The constabulary is very sad to hear of the death of Mrs Dunwoody.

“She was a lovely lady who very much kept us on our toes and was challenging in ensuring the interests of her constituents were safeguarded. Cheshire will be a duller place without her.”Mrs Dunwoody, the MP for Crewe and Nantwich, died on Thursday night aged 77.

She was the longest serving female Member of Parliament.

A member of the Labour Party since 1946, Mrs Dunwoody was first elected as an MP for Crewe and Nantwich in 1974.
