A PROTEST marked the opening of the inquiry into a proposed incinerator, waste plant and technology complex at Ince this morning (Tuesday, April 16).
Scores of furious residents were camped outside the Forest Hills Hotel, Frodsham, from 9.30am to greet experts from Peel Environmental Holdings Ltd and Cheshire County Council as well as planning inspector Simon Gibbs.
The inquiry is set to run for about six weeks from 10am-5.30pm Tuesday-Friday.
Opening speeches from Cheshire County Council, Peel Environmental Ince Ltd and Residents Against Incineration (RAIN) were heard this morning.
Evidence will be also be heard from Cheshire County Council, Vale Royal Borough Council and protest group RAIN, as well as parish councils and individuals, from Thursday, May 15.
A public meeting is on Wednesday, May 14 at 7pm when the public can give evidence if they first register with programme officer Jane Coslett.
Ms Coslett added: “Anyone who wants to give evidence whether to support or object will be cross-examined by the other parties.”
