The Bolesworth Estate, near Tattenhall, is to stage its first Show Jumping Classic and Country Fair on June 6-8, which is expected to draw in 3,000 visitors per day.

The weekend event, which has been announced as an annual fixture, will attract top international riders to the county, with £40,000 worth of prizes on offer and stabling facilities for 300 competitors.

Established as a dairy farming enterprise from 1856 The Bolesworth estate has diversified into commercial and residential lettings, tourism and hosting events.

Nina Barbour, who has lived on the Bolesworth Estate all her life, worked closely with The British Showjumping Association to bring the prestige event to the county.

She said: “The Bolesworth Castle Show Jumping Classic and Country Fair will draw both show jumping fans and local families for what promises to be a fantastic day out.

“Extensive ground work has been carried out on both rings by Lee Williams and his father John, who, between them, have decades of experience of the needs of top-level competition horses and the high standard of ground conditions that are expected by the top riders.

She added: “The first step was to position the show jumping rings, and the main ring is situated in a central position with a fantastic back drop of the castle behind it.”

The event has received sponsorship from Cheshire based firms and VIP and corporate hospitality will be laid on.

Nina explained: “The VIP and corporate hospitality marquee will be positioned on the far side of the ring so guests can make the most of the stunning view.”
