HORRIFIED staff discovered the body of a colleague hanging in their office in Chester city centre.
The workers made the grim find just before 6am today at the BT Exchange building on St John Street.
They alerted the emergency services immediately and the man, who has not yet been named, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
Cheshire police spokeswoman Jo Priehs said there were no suspicious circumstances.
She said: "Police attended a premises in St John Street in Chester at approximately 5.45am following a report of a hanging.
"On arrival, officers discovered the body of a man, believed to be in his 40s.
"He was pronounced dead at the scene by ambulance staff. At this time it is believed there are no suspicious circumstances and a coroner's file is being prepared."
The man was found by security staff opening up for the day.
