Alyn and Deeside: Conservative candidate confident he can topple Labour

TORY candidate Will Gallagher has dismissed claims Alyn and Deeside is a safe Labour seat – and believes he has a ‘genuine’ chance of victory.

An 11.8% swing is required to turn the constituency blue but Mr Gallagher, who lives in Sandycroft, says the result is anything but a foregone conclusion.

He believes he can win.

“I genuinely do,” he said. “The European elections last year proved Labour shouldn’t take the seat for granted, which they have done.

“From people I’ve spoken to lots of people who’ve never voted Conservative before are voting Conservative this time.”

He added: “We’ve done everything we can – it’s going to be very close. Tonight could be a very interesting result.”
