New chairman appointed to Chester City Centre Management

AFTER the retirement of David Pickering, the board of Chester City Management (CCM) appointed its new chairman at its October meeting.

Paul Daniels, the managing director of thebestofchester will take charge at the group’s next meeting in December.

Paul said: “I want to thank David Pickering for his leadership of City Management since 2008.

“During this period, City Management has delivered hugely successful initiatives that have delivered commercial benefits for retailers including, but not limited to, The Smile campaign, Free after 3, Chestival, Food and Drink Festival, Christmas campaigns, ShopChester.net and many more.

“It is imperative City Management continues to provide a cohesive representative body that delivers effective business support for the retail sector of Chester.

“I work and talk with businesses in Chester every day therefore, I know from my personal experience that trading conditions are challenging.

“I’m looking forward to working with City Management, our retailers, the city’s public and third sector leaders to ensure we influence policy and strategy to achieve our strategic and commercial aims together.”
