Chester’s Doubletree by Hilton plays host to BBC film crew

A HISTORIC Chester hotel will have a starring role on prime time television next month.

The Doubletree by Hilton, formally Hoole Hall, recently opened its doors to a film crew from BBC programme The One Show.

A team of five from production company Icon Films spent a weekend filming in the hotel’s grounds.

One Show researcher Robert Wootton said: “Our filming took place in the fantastic grounds surrounding the hotel. The footage we shot looked great and works brilliantly for the film.

“The hotel’s architecture was very impressive, in particular the seamless mixture of traditional and contemporary designs, from the original brickwork to the large renovated glass conservatory.

“The whole day ran smoothly and I look forward to showcasing the hotel and its grounds when the feature airs. The crew, presenter and contributor all had a great time and that was down to the staff.”

“I’m planning my next visit as a guest,” he added.

Hotel operations manager Peter Hendry said: “It was an extremely busy day for us here at Doubletree with two weddings taking place, a hotel full of guests plus the added pressure of the BBC filming.

“However, it was an absolute pleasure to have the film crew at our hotel exploring the rich history of the building and its grounds. It’s also great news for a Chester-based establishment to gain interest from a programme as successful as The One Show.”

The content of the filming will remain confidential until the screening is broadcast next month.
