Farndon photographer wins national award

A FARNDON-BASED photographer is celebrating after winning a national accolade for her work.

Self employed snapper Jaine Briscoe-Price, 48, who takes unique photographs according to people’s personal style, bone structure and features, scooped the Fresh photographer of the year award for her portrait of customer Nicola Davies.

Jaine, who works from her own studio in Farndon was up against 250 studios across the UK in the competition, but it was her unique portrayal of Nicola’s striking face that earned her the top accolade, in a ceremony held at Watford’s Hilton Hotel last month.

“I’m absolutely delighted to win,” said Jaine. “People often buy a photo shoot after a significant event in their life to give them a boost, and that’s what Nicola did.

“The best part for me was seeing how much Nicola blossomed – afterwards she was a different person to the shy girl who walked in before her makeover.”

She added: “This has given her more confidence and that gave me a reason to do it.”

Nicola, from Wrexham, added: “I had been through a bad time so my mum bought me the experience to help build my confidence up again.

“It definitely worked as Jaine was very understanding andŠhelped me come out of my shell during the photo shoot.

“I never thought I would look the way I did but I loved it – I am different now, and so much more confident “
