THE Chester economy will get a shot in the arm when the stylish four-star ABode hotel opens in April.
The 85-room ABode Chester, in the HQ complex, will feature a Michael Caines restaurant and champagne bar plus more informal dining facilities fronting the central plaza.
Owned by greetings card entrepreneur Andrew Brownsword, owner of The Bath Priory, Baby ABode Chelsea and Gidleigh Park, the boutique hotel will create about 120 jobs.
General manager, Faye Kelly who comes to the city from Manchester, said: “I am delighted to be joining the ABode team, at the company’s first new build development. Chester is a great addition to the company’s burgeoning portfolio and will offer the very best in luxury rooms and suites, along with the finest locally sourced food.”
Conveniently located next to the Roodee racecourse, the rooms will feature hand-built beds, oversized baths along with private balconies and views of the racecourse, piazza and city.
The 76-seat Michael Caines champagne bar and restaurant, on the fifth floor, will offer private dining facilities, as well as the opportunity to dine al fresco on the outside terrace.
There is a commitment to sourcing local produce and guests can choose from à la carte, tasting and ‘grazing’ menus to sample Caines’ award winning British cuisine.
Michael Caines, who will mentor in BBC2’s Great British Menu this year, said: “We hope that ABode’s offering of contemporary accommodation and fine food venues will give visitors luxury that every budget can afford without compromise on quality.”
Rooms are available from £99 as an introductory offer.
