HEATHCOTES at Chester Racecourse has raised £1,500 for Nicola’s Fund, a local charity dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with cancer.
Founded by Deborah and Steve Riley, after their daughter lost her fight against a malignant brain tumour, Nicola’s Fund aims to provide holidays and other well-deserved treats for children who are suffering from cancer.
Nicola’s Fund founder and trustee, Deborah said: “Even though she was particularly poorly at the time, our own daughter thoroughly enjoyed all the various activities offered by this kind of holiday. Now we aim to give other children a similar experience where they can hopefully forget about their problems for a while.
“We have known the team at Heathcotes for some time, having employed them as the caterers at several fund-raising events.
“Nevertheless, their generous £1,500 donation was a complete surprise and will enable us to provide a Center Parcs holiday for another deserving family.”
Heathcotes general manager, Philip Dougherty, said: “Every year we select an organisation to receive the funds raised from the charity casinos that are held on our party nights. We have got to know Deborah and her team during the course of their fundraising activities and are immensely proud to be able to help them.”
